Public art for the new Los Nietos branch of the County of Los Angeles Public Library. A series of leaves move along the façade towards the entrance of the new library. The leaves reference the mature tree in front of Los Nietos Middle School (on the same site as the library) and the deep roots of the community that are descendants of the Kizh Tribe. The artwork changes throughout the day as the sun moves across the façade, casting shadows along the back panels. Over the entrance is a timeline that shows significant dates, events and an overall history of the Los Nietos area and it’s residents.
